Eyebrow Laser Hair Removal Guide

By Mary Basiadima, 19 January 2015

Having Laser Hair Removal on your eyebrows is a regular enquiry at our London clinics by both men and women. Having devastatingly shapely eyebrows to frame and enhance your eyes without having to constantly tweeze and pluck would be heaven!.

Unfortunately the news is mixed when it comes to your eyebrows.

Eyebrow Laser

Laser can be achieved on most places that hair grows on the skin, however the eyebrows are a little different. The fact that they are so close to the eye and todays laser technology being extremely powerful, make it unsafe to perform laser to shape your eyebrows.

This is not to say that some eyebrow treatments can’t be done, but there are one or two rules and guidelines that must be followed in order to keep the treatment safe.

Laser between eyebrows – Unibrow (Glabella)

The good news is you can use laser if you have hair growing between the eyebrows. If you have a unibrow or excess hair joining the eyebrows together (The correct medical term for the area is called the glabella) laser hair removal can be performed on the glabella.

Eye Protection for eyebrow laser

For one it is imperative that eye protection is worn at all times during the treatment as the laser light is extremely powerful without the necessary precautions can cause damage to the eye.

The goggles provided should provide the wavelength specific protection to suit whichever type of laser that is being used. Different wavelengths are used on light and darker skin tones so ensure the right safety goggle are worn

Patch Test

A patch test is a little test performed on a small area of skin that is used to determine the optimum level of the laser energy that is required to get the required results as well as providing the opportunity to gauge the skins reaction to the laser.

Most people are ok to have Laser Hair Removal however there are some who can have reactions to the laser which is why a patch test is very important.

You must wait a minimum of 24 hours after the patch test before any laser hair removal treatment can go ahead

Eyebrow laser treatment, aftercare & prices

treatment

If you go ahead with eyebrow laser treatment, for the hair growing in between your brows, then the actual treatment should not take long. You can be in and out of the clinic within 15 – 20 minutes.

The treatment itself is very quick. 6-8 session should be required for permanent hair removal. Prices are from £22

aftercare

Aloe very gel is applied immediately after the laser session to cool the treated area. Slight redness and swelling may occur but should subside after a few hours. Apply aloe vera gel in the days afterwards and wear a high factor SPF sunscreen of 30 or above and avoid direct sun exposure.

If you experience any discomfort or side effects contact your clinic and practitioner.
